the MAMMOTH studios.

Welcome to the Mammoth. We will be taking control of the building here sometime in the first couple of weeks of January 2012. It's unbelievable and so very exciting to be saying that. Yeah!!!

Why we're doing this:

Besides wanting large studio spaces that are near where we live and wanting a community of people to work around, we feel there's a hole in the city's fabric. People are always saying Louisville needs another art cooperative/ more art studios / open meeting spaces/ art school classrooms/ a new kind of art gallery/ living spaces/ an independent media center/ new band practice spaces/ live music venue/ film viewing space/ a recording studio/ an underground local music.art museum/ more community gardens and green space/ sculpture gardens/and most of all... more cow bell. We feel that the vital missing component has been a workable, community run space. Fundamentally, we want this project to give artists and other creatives an opportunity to invest in themselves by having the choise to either rent or purchase the space they work in year after year, while themselves being able to interact with other artists. Essentially it's up to the community to work together and make things happen here. Please get in touch and let's see what's possible.
